Health Visitor

If you need to contact your Health Visitor, please call the Health Visitor team on 0300 323 0116. If no-one is available please leave a message - they will try and return your call on the same day. However, if you are worried about the immediate health of your child please telephone the surgery on 01278 437100 or ring NHS 111.

Your health visitor is able to offer help and advice for mothers and children, including monitoring growth and development. They work closely with the surgery’s GPs and with the local paediatric service.

Immunisation Clinic

Our practice nurses Julie Ratcliff and Kim Southey offer an immunisation clinic on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, from 2:00pm until 5:00pm. Appointments are sent out from Dorset & Somerset Health Authority. If you would like to discuss your child’s immunisations, please speak to your health visitor or to a nurse before the clinic day.

More information about the immunisations offered can be found on the NHS Immunisations website.

Routine Checks

You will be invited to have routine checks on your child's development, hearing and vision:-

  • A post-natal review at 6-8 weeks to check on baby's growth and development, plus a physical examination with one of the doctors
  • A pre-school assessment at 4 years to monitor growth. This appointment will be with one of the doctors, who will also undertake a simple physical examination.
  • At 9-15 months you will be invited to bring your child for a development and growth review.

You will also be contacted at 2 1/4 years.

Of course you can see your Health Visitor at any time if you have any health or development worries, or if you want to talk through any problem concerning you or your family - just contact them on the above number.
